Margaret White Carrie
In the mom who loves you but doesn’t know how to do it genre, Margaret White won the eardrums. But we have to concede one thing: Carrie’s mother, as a good fundamentalist Christian, had been somewhat right to advise her beloved daughter against going to prom (it is true that this little party is not exactly good). But other than that, she still has a lot of progress to make.

Bree Van de Kamp (Desperate Housewives)
Of course the house is well maintained, but at what price? An obsessive housekeeper who (badly) hides her obsessions and weaknesses behind a frosty but impeccable demeanor, the tyrannical and conservative Bree will love you as long as you meet her exacting standards. Suffice it to say that the early pregnancy of daughter Danielle or the coming out of son Andrew are not exactly welcomed with kindness…

Tess Coleman (Freaky Friday)
Anna can’t take it anymore with her mother, Tess, who shames her in front of high school, prevents her from rehearsing with his rock band and who, in short, understands nothing of her hard life as a teenager. But things will change … for the worse, as she will become mother to her and mother to her will become … her. Hell. We always see this gleeful 2000s mother-daughter comedy starring the brilliant Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. (Note that on this list, Tess Coleman is still the least bad).

Cersei (Game of Thrones)
Monstrous of selfishness and sadism, ready for anything, even the worst, Cersei Lannister is certainly one of the most terrible mothers. Why yes, she doesn’t even spare her children, who will all end very badly, sad collateral damage of her race to sit and remain on the throne. Ambition is fine. But this is going more than too far.

Grace (the others)
So yes, initially Grace loves her children, both of whom are hypersensitive to light, and protects them in this big creaky and gloomy house. Small problem, ghosts begin to appear and their life will change irreparably. A small masterpiece of fantastic cinema of which we will not divulge the final twist…

Mrs. Lisbon (Virgin Suicides)
Severe and cold, the mother of the Lisbon sisters ends up locking up the four young girls in the family home and preventing them from having any contact with the outside world, with the tragic epilogue we know. We will long remember this terrible scene in which she forces Lux to burn her vinyl records in the fireplace.
