Wearing a mustache, gaining some muscle or weight to get under a character’s skin: okay, but Jude Law wants more.
In his own way, the actor has just carved himself a place in the superior from the the most extreme transformations to get into the skin of a movie character. In front of his next film Burning Ember – The Queen’s Gamedo not try drastic weight loss or gain, bulging muscles… look instead my disgust and the quiver of the nostrils of his playmates.
“His leg was rotting”
Could be the face of a Dior perfume, Jude Law doesn’t always smell good. On May 22, during the Cannes press conference for the film Burning Ember – The Queen’s Game by Karim Aïnouz, the actor stunned everyone by revealing his method of stepping into the skin of the character of Henry VIIIking of England and Ireland from 1509 until his death in 1547.
While doing historical research, Jude Law discovered that at the end of his life, Henry VIII suffered from swollen ankles and leg ulcers. From his wounds he freed himself an unbearable smell :
“I read several interesting stories that at that time Henri could be smelled in the rooms around. As, his leg was rotting. She hid it with rose oil. »
Jude Law read reports of people who could smell King Henry VIII from three rooms away, so he wanted to “smell awful” on the set of Karim Aïnouz’s ‘FIREBRAND’.
He had a perfumer create a perfume with “cat, blood, fecal matter and sweat.” pic.twitter.com/cA10wCCN84

Ingredients : “blood, feces and sweat »
Going beyond the stage of simple physical transformation, judged Jude Law “which would be even more impactful in the game, if I had a bad smell”as he explained during the press conference.
It does not matter ; to recreate this stench, the actor called in a great perfume specialist who custom-made it the worst cocktail imaginable : a sickening mixture of “blood, feces and sweat At first, Jude Law dabbed the mixture, then started putting some dailyfor total immersion in character.

The film’s director, Karim Aïnouz, seemed delighted by this intense olfactory experience on set. “It was great to use!” », enthused, stating:
“All the rooms had this smell. When he arrived on set it was a horror. »
As for us, we can’t help but have a moved thought for the actor’s main playmate, Alicia Vikander. The latter plays Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII. In addition to face-to-face dialogues, the actress shared intimate scenes with Jude Law… We want to see the film if only to bring it our symbolic support.
