Covid peak hits entertainment industry hard with outbreaks in 4 studies, according to Los Angeles County data

In recent months, the entertainment industry has been one of the most affected, if not the strongest, sectors in Los Angeles, consistently recording the highest number of Covid infections in the country.

Now that studios are setting return-to-work dates for employees, at least three batches are experiencing significant explosions, along with other groups at the studio headquarters, television production, manufacturing facilities, and performing arts venue. Collectively, they account for about 18 percent of the total number of non-medical explosions currently recorded at companies across the country, according to an official.

The good news is that this percentage has actually dropped from last month, when the entertainment industry accounted for 20% of outbreaks. The bad news is that the total number of infections presented is much higher. In fact, last week there were 108 groups for each job and this week the total jumped to 140, according to county data.

The number of cases overall in Los Angeles is on the rise, with the average number of infections per day today at around 2,400, according to a report from the county’s public health department. The past week saw a 20% increase in this metric, which is notable for the number calculated to average temporary fluctuations over a seven-day average.

At the top of the Lionsgate list is found on showbiz-related explosions. Its Santa Monica office is showing 21 cases this week. This places him in second place in terms of infected personnel, behind Lancaster camp and the RV manufacturer. At the end of last month, Lionsgate had 6 groups of infections.

A source familiar with the situation told Deadline that 12 of the 21 cases at Lionsgate were among employees who returned from CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The company is said to have mandatory vaccinations for employees and in case of active cases requires masks in the office.

In a weekly briefing on the state of Los Angeles County Covid last month, Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer noted that while the entertainment industry is superior to other sectors, it could be because television, film and television, they are doing something wrong and not wrong. .

“This could be due to the general increase in cases, as we have seen in the community, as well as the comprehensive detection protocols that the industry maintains,” said Ferrer.
