Cannes Film Festival unveils Jury and President Short Film 2023

Hungarian director and screenwriter Ildikó Enyedi has been announced as the president of the Cannes Film Festival jury that makes the official selection of the Palme d’Or short film and the 3 La Cinef awards for student films.

She is joined by Iranian-American screenwriter and director Ana Lily Amirpour, Canadian actress and director Charlotte Le Bon, French actress Karidja Touré and Israeli filmmaker Shlomi Elkabetz.

Enyedi made her international breakthrough in Cannes in 1989 when she made her first film My 20th century was selected for Un Certain Regard and won the Caméra d’Or

“When I arrived in Cannes in 1989, in that magical year of change in Europe, with my first feature film – with banned exhibitions, a banned student film and a lot of problems – it was an incredible feeling,” said Enyedi.

“To be chosen was to be understood, to be truly seen, as if this large, colorful and extravagant community of brilliant artists and film professionals had opened their arms to me, the absolute newcomer, inviting me among them and trusting build up where it was straight. was a promise. To this day, I remember every moment of the time I spent in Cannes,” she continued.

“I am sure that the young filmmakers presenting their short films at this year’s festival will feel the same positive shock.
