Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin claims she suffers from “complex PTSD” in a TikTok video released earlier this week.
“Let’s talk about PTSD. I’ve never talked about it publicly,” Griffin said in the video. “You can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD and it’s called an extreme case.”
Griffin’s problem stems from her meeting with President Donald Trump, where she sent a photo of her holding a model of his severed head. The ensuing outrage basically set her career on fire. She was fired from her longtime job as co-host of the CNN New Year’s Eve special, and theater shows were canceled. She was also investigated by the Secret Service and placed on a “no fly” list.
“Those of you who know my story will understand that it really started for me about 5½ years ago. Wink,” she said. Griffin claimed she wouldn’t leave her house for months after the Trump photo circulated and said she suffered a “deletion” in a comment published in news week. She admitted that she started taking “every prescription pill I could get my hands on.”
A stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis came in 2021.
Several fans have informed the TikTok comments with treatment suggestions, and Griffin said she consulted with her good friend and music/film producer Sia about alternative treatments.
