Young woman who believes she is Madeleine McCann finally gets DNA test results as new statement released

A Polish woman became an internet sensation when she claimed to be Madeleine McCann – despite her own parents calling her claims “lies and manipulation”.

Julia Wendell (21) even spoke on the American talk show Dr. Phil where she said she began to suspect she was Madeleine last June – but could provide no evidence.

Wendell’s parents said she made the claims and it was “clear she was not” the missing British girl.

Julia Wendell (21) is even on the American program Dr. Phil where she said she began to suspect she was the missing British girl in June last year without providing any evidence to back up her claims.

Then three-year-old Madeleine (pictured) disappeared while on a family holiday in Praia da Luz in Portugal in 2007, which would make her now around 19, two years younger than Wendell - another reason for her baseless claims of the show hand. DNA results have now confirmed that Wendell is not Madeleine

DNA results have now confirmed that Wendell is not Madeleine

Now DNA test results have shown that she is not Madeleine.

Statement by Julia Wendell

DR Fia Johansson, a private investigator and psychologist who assisted Wendell, said in a statement: “Julia’s test results are back. Finally we know the truth. Although it is impossible to say for sure without DNA results of both parents’ parents, the test results speak to the origin of Julia’s roots.

“The test results showed that she is 100% Polish with negligible influence from Lithuania and Russia.

The DNA results showed no connection to British or even German roots.

“This story is much more complicated than a simple girl from a small town in Poland who claims she is attracting attention.

“She really believed what she said and with so many questions about her childhood it’s easy to understand where she’s coming from.

“The refusal of the parents to solve this difficult question for Julia is astonishing. Anyway, after the revelation she decided to go back to her father. I personally wish her all the best.’

Instead, DNA results showed that she was indeed from Poland – as her parents claimed – with Lithuanian and Romanian ancestry, Radar Online reports.

“She is definitely 100 percent Polish,” said Dr. Fia Johansson, a private investigator and medium who assisted Wendell.

“She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian, but the test results show that she is Polish,” said dr. Johansson, who moved the Pole from Poland to the United States after receiving death threats.

“She really believed what she said, and with so many questions about her childhood, it’s easy to understand where she’s coming from.”

Dr. Johansson added that after Wendell found out she was not Madeleine, she decided to return to Poland to be with her father. This has not been confirmed by the woman’s family.

Madeleine, from Rothley in Leicestershire, disappeared aged three in 2007 while on a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

This would make her now about 19 years old, two years younger than Wendell – a fact that made many skeptical.

Wendell also said she couldn’t remember much of her childhood and wasn’t sure of her age because she hadn’t seen her birth certificate – a claim strongly denied by her parents.

She said: “I don’t remember most of my childhood, but my earliest memory is very strong and is of holidays in a warm place with a beach and white or very bright apartment buildings. I don’t see my family in that memory.”

Dr. Phil showed Wendell side-by-side photos of her and Madeleine, which the Pole used to spread her now debunked theory on social media.

The disappearance of Madeleine McCann

Madeleine McCann, known as Maddie, disappeared from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal on 3 May 2007.

She was on holiday with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann; her two-year-old twin brother and sister; and a group of family friends and their children.

She and the twins fell asleep in the flat while the McCanns and their friends ate dinner at a restaurant 55 meters away.

The parents watched the children throughout the evening until 10pm when Kate discovered she was missing.

What followed is widely regarded as one of the world’s most widely reported missing persons investigations.

Portuguese authorities closed their investigation in July 2008, but Maddie’s parents continued with private detectives.

Scotland Yard launched its own investigation – Operation Grange – in 2011 and the investigation is still ongoing.

Wendell insisted she shares many similarities with the missing Madeleine and that the rare eye disorder she allegedly shared with Madeleine “faded” after Dr. Phil asked her about it.

She said she also shared a similar smile and dimples with the missing girl.

Wendell claimed that her mother would always change the subject when Wendell brought up her birth and “wouldn’t show me any evidence.”

Dr. Phil told her, “You [Wendell’s mother] says she went to the hospital and gave birth to you.”

The Polish woman replied: “She said yes. When I asked her for DNA before this whole situation, when I asked her for some photos from her pregnancy, some photos from her childhood … she refused.”

Wendell claimed she never received any photos of herself in her early years or a birth certificate, but her parents were quick to refute that – and provide proof.

They said in a statement: “We as a family are aware that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, nephew and step-niece. We have memories, we have pictures.

“Julia also has these photos because she took them from her parents’ house with the birth certificate and numerous hospital discharges.

“We always tried to understand all the situations that happened to Julia. Julia’s threats against us, her lies and manipulations, activities on the internet… we saw it all and we tried to stop it, explained, we asked her to stop.’

She added: “We have always tried to get her back on her feet. Julia is already several years old. She left the house.

“She refuses treatment and does not take regular medication. She also did not take the opportunity of treatment in a very good center in Poland, which she agreed to.’

They explained that they offered to provide therapists, medication and support for Wendell over the years, adding: “Julia wanted to be a singer one day, a model. She’s always wanted to be popular. What’s happening now is she [has] 1 million followers.

The internet won’t forget it and it’s clear that Julia is not Maddie. We are devastated by this current situation.’
