The Cannes Film Festival has confirmed that it will announce the official selection for the 76th edition on April 13 in Paris.
This year the festival takes place from 16 to 27 May. Cannes President Iris Knobloch and Thierry Frémaux, Delegate General, will preside over the official press conference on the selection.
The festival confirmed this earlier this week Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune will be shown at the festival on May 18. Harrison Ford and director James Mangold will be among those walking the red carpet to a John Williams soundtrack, the festival and Disney announced Monday. The film will hit theaters on June 28 in France and June 30 in the US
The festival also offers a career tribute to Ford, 15 years after his debut Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The Disney and Lucasfilm production is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. Williams, who composed every Indy adventure since the original Hunter of the lost treasure composed the score again in 1981.
Martin Scorsese’s latest Killer of the Flower MoonShe is also set for a Croisette debut. The festival confirmed last month that the picture will have its world premiere on Saturday 20 May at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on the Croisette. Last summer, we first broke the news that the film would likely be released in Cannes, followed by a theatrical release. Murderer will play in the official squad, but it is not yet clear if he will play in the league – this will be announced during the press on April 13.
