Sources say each season of the series will be based on one of Rowling’s seven books, hinting at years of new material from popular stories. There has been talk of this type of series since 2021.
The company hopes the series could be a cornerstone of a new streaming strategy to be announced next week by HBO parent Warner Bros. That company’s CEO, David Zaslav, and HBO head Casey Bloys said worked to convince Rowling to produce a new series that will debut on HBO and online, but the deal has not been completed.
IGN reports that “if a deal goes through, the series would be developed as an HBO Max Original, rather than for HBO proper.”
The series would allow writers to delve into the world of Rowling’s books, many of which exceed 500 pages. That would be great for fans of the book series, who have noticed the omissions in the films, especially from the fourth book onward. There is so much story to tell. I think a series would be great! I wish this had been done from the start so I could see the original cast in the roles, but I’d still be happy to watch it, nonetheless.
What do you think? Will you be excited if this deal goes through?
