Almost five years after the factthis Thursday 30 March, two men were sentenced on appeal to 17 and 14 years in prison by the Court of Assizes of Val-de-Marne for the murder of Vanesa Campos. A significantly reduced sentence for the killers in August 2018of this a transgender prostitute had been killed filmed in the Bois de Boulogne.
Reduced sentence
In January 2022Mahmoud Kadri, 25, and Karim Ibrahim, 30, were sentenced to 22 years of criminal imprisonment each from the Paris Assize Court.
“By reducing our client’s sentence by eight years, the court has, after calm debates, restored the rightful role of his participation in this case”told theFrench media agency the lawyers of Karim Ibrahim, Julien Fresnault and Fares Aidel, at the end of the trial. According to the latter, this decision made it possible to “to ensure that justice is done” for Vanessa Campos.

The night of the crimeMahmoud Kadri and Karim Ibrahim met in the forest of Boulogne with a dozen other young a face the “protectors” hired by South American transgender prostitutes, targeted for years by Egyptian thieves who robbed their clients, as reported by theAFP extension.
These two men appeared along with three others, charged with criminal conspiracy and theft of the murder weapon. One was acquitted. The other two were convicted respectively to three years’ imprisonment, one of which was suspended for the theft of the weapon, and five years, of which two were suspended for criminal association.
Vanesa Campos’ entourage did not want to react to the verdict
Civil lawyers – including Vanesa Campos’ mother and sister and five of her colleagues – did not want to react to the verdict.
Vanesa Campos had been killed during this punitive expedition in the night between 16 and 17 August 2018, in a remote place in the Bois de Boulogne where he had been practicing for two years. He was 36 years old.
Sex workers remain particularly affected by the violence which is very little visible elsewhere.
In an article published last December, to miss asked Giovanna Rincon, director of the Acceptess-T association, after the murder of Vanesa Campos in 2018:
“When you are a prostitute, you should protect yourself from murder and rape. We don’t question the aggressors, the system that makes us precarious, the society that excludes us, we prefer to blame the victims. »
Even though the murderers of Vanesa Campos have been tried, this reduced sentence sadly still particularly echoes these words.
