At a German airport, a driver with a delivery van intentionally drives into several pedestrians, injuring several

A man ran into several pedestrians in a parking garage at a German airport on Friday, injuring several people, police said.

The 57-year-old also drove into several cars at the Cologne-Bonn airport in the west of the country.

According to the police, there are indications that the man has mental problems.

The man was driving a rental car and injured “five or six” people, including two police officers, in the incident, a spokesman said. The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital in Cologne and is being admitted to a closed psychiatric ward.

The man resisted arrest before being overpowered by police. The officers suffered minor injuries.

A man plowed into several pedestrians in a parking lot at Cologne-Bonn Airport in Germany (pictured) on Friday, injuring several people, police said.

The alleged attack was reportedly carried out at 09:30 local time on the airport’s P2 car park, where the driver broke through the barrier.

“He apparently drove into several cars and pedestrians who were able to avoid him,” says a police spokesman, according to the German tabloid Bild.

Police said no one’s life was in danger, although the offender “kept going back and forth,” they said.

“He rammed several vehicles with a black rental van,” police spokesman Christoph Gilles said, according to Build. An Audi A5 was hit at “full speed” after the driver broke through the barrier system that controls the entrance to the car park.

He also hit a Kia and a Volvo parked inside, he said.

Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
