Andrew Lloyd Webber updates son’s condition, says he is ‘fighting bravely’

Andrew Lloyd Webber thanks fans for their support after his eldest son’s stomach cancer diagnosis.

The composer posted an Instagram video showing his son Nicholas, 43, being taken to a hospice.

“I want to thank you for the many messages of support for my son Nick. He has now been transferred to hospice and continues to fight,” he said in the video. “I think he got through the worst of that first pneumonia he got because of his cancer, which is just horrible. We are all here and the family is all gathered here and I think it was the right place for all of us.

“I’ll see Nick in a minute and I’ll pass on all the wonderful wishes I’ve had for him from all over the world,” he added.

Webber (74) spoke about his 43-year-old son’s illness earlier this month.

“As my friends and family know, he has been battling stomach cancer for 18 months and Nick is now in the hospital,” Webber wrote at the time. “So I have the latest previews of Evil Cinderella and as things stand, I won’t be able to applaud the wonderful cast, crew and orchestra on opening night next Thursday.

“We are all praying for Nick to turn the corner,” Webber continued. “He fights bravely with his indomitable sense of humor, but for now my place is with him and the family.”

Nicholas is a Grammy-nominated composer, full score Cinderella by Andrew Lloyd Webber Original cast album in 2021.
