Concert promotion giant Live Nation is expected to be disbanded, says New Jersey Democratic Congressman Bill Pascrell, who insists his safety record is alarming.
Pascrell called the latest attack on comedian Dave Chapelle and the Travis Scott Astroworld tragedy which resulted in the deaths of 10 people and numerous disasters.
“About 200 people have been killed and 750 injured in Live Nation events since 2006,” said Bill Pascrell. New York post. “Haven’t the security measures been improved? Did Live Nation silence the organizers? I want answers I think the public deserves to know. “
Pascrell said he wrote to the Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department in March. In his letter, he cited the need to abolish associations such as the 2010 merger of Live Nation and Tickermaster.
Following this merger, Live Nation controls approximately 85% of the live music process, from ticket purchase, venue ownership, show planning and promotion.
After the Astroworld tragedy, members of the House Oversight and Reform Committee wrote to Live Nation in December 2021: “Reports indicate that medical and security personnel were either inexperienced or inadequate in dealing with mass injuries. Some participants said the barricades made escape difficult. Experts said Astroworld Festival organizers did not heed the warning signs.
Live Nation was also involved in several incidents, resulting in numerous fines for safety issues.
“They may have doubled their profits and still haven’t done anything for the safety of the people attending their concerts,” Pascrell said. “The consequences of the disaster are obvious in terms of how many people died. They have to be responsible, like any other business. “
Live Nation has not yet responded to the MP’s allegations.
