The six-minute footage showed Ukrainian soldiers engaged in intense combat firing on Russian soldiers before a lull in hostilities as they reloaded their guns and smoked cigarettes to calm their nerves.

The incredible raw footage was received on Monday by the K2 battle group of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sharing the video, the battalion said: “A regular six-and-a-half-minute regular fighter of the battalion’s K2 regular mechanized combat group of the 54th separate mechanized brigade.

They also said the footage was shot in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his top military command agreed today to continue defending Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.
After a meeting with the president, senior officials and military commanders, Zelenskyy’s office said in a statement: “After considering the defensive operation against Bakhmut, all members … should continue to hold and defend Bakhmut . .’

Russia and Ukraine are locked in the bloodiest infantry battle in Europe since World War II after Moscow launched a winter offensive that drew hundreds of thousands of newly drafted reservists and mercenaries. Ukrainian officials say they are preparing their own counteroffensive for later this year once the muddy ground dries up and hundreds of Western tanks and armored vehicles arrive.

But the outcome of these campaigns could depend on which side emerges stronger from Russia’s winter offensive, with both sides taking massive casualties in what they describe as a meat grinder.
Britain’s Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that Moscow’s ammunition was running out “to the extent that extremely punitive rationing is in place in many parts of the front line”.
“This has almost certainly been a major reason why no Russian formation has been able to conduct operationally significant offensive actions in recent times,” said a daily intelligence update.
But Ukraine also suffers from a lack of shells and ends up having a smaller population to engage in a war of attrition. Some military experts say Bakhmut is unfavorable ground for Kiev to fight Russian forces, which have advanced far enough around the city to meet Ukrainian supply lines in the rear.
“We could lose everything here that we wanted to use for these counter-offensives,” Ukrainian military analyst Oleh Zhdanov said of the Battle of Bakhmut.
