BBC Studios has backed a new British entertainment label run by managing directors Simon Shalgosky and Daniel Brookes.
The producer and distributor will distribute Rebel Rebel Pictures’ formats worldwide after the launch of the Shinge, which will focus on excellent entertainment and factual entertainment programs.
Shalgosky and Brookes have a combined 40 years of television experience, including past credits Love Island, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent And euro vision and former employers including ITV Studios and Seven Studios.
They most recently managed Dutch-Belgian producer Vincent TV’s UK label, which Deadline revealed in October 2021.
“Our goal for Rebel Rebel is to create some of the most imaginative shows on television with a global reach,” said Shalgosky. “We firmly believe in creating large formats and strive to create shows that are so iconic that they are instantly recognizable, even without sound.”
Emma Hardie, commercial director, international production and formats at BBC Studios, said the move was “incredibly exciting”.
BBC Studios has recently signed a number of production companies including Jamie Demetrious People Day Limited, Joe Suggs Final Straw Productions and Inside the factory Indie suspense TV.
