Why winter overalls are an unfairly underrated item in the wardrobe, and what does Princess Diana have to do with it?

Overalls can rightfully be called the most comfortable and functional thing in the wardrobe. Styling never becomes a star-studded task – you just wear an item and go to conquer new heights. And especially the previous words relate to winter overalls for skiing and snowboarding.

Number one – the need to repeatedly adjust the jacket and pull the bolognese trousers up, trying to move down on the next descent, disappears by itself. Second, overalls greatly simplify the strict rules of mountain time management. After all, time passes differently on snowy peaks and the elevators don’t work forever.

You need to spend about 15 seconds to put on the jumpsuit. And now you have an extra 30 minutes to safely cross half the course. Well, or upload a video codenamed “look, I learned how to make an ollie”.

wait for me i will come back

With all the love above, a logical question arises. Why is a rider dressed in stylish overalls on the ski slopes the eighth wonder of the world today? And it’s true: For decades of the last century, “influencers” like Princess Diana, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot weren’t just responsible for creating a post-ski culture and sport chic. Her fashionable words still sound flattering – what are the regular mentions by journalists of the same Lady Dee’s style? And surprisingly, this is where the traditional conflict between skiers and snowboarders comes into play.

At the end of the 20th century, the latter came to the fore and radically changed the foundations of après-ski. Minimalist overalls have given way to rebellious combinations of possible and not-so-possible colors – the hip-hop aesthetic in the flesh. Style and elegance on the slopes became completely secondary. After all, the main role of clothing in winter sports is practicality, functionality and freedom of movement, but not geometric lines as in the last Prada show. Despite…

A simple and timeless truth is that fashion is a very cyclical phenomenon. And in 2023, we can say with all confidence that the era of street style has finally and irrevocably come to an end. We’re back again to the latest shows from Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Loewe – solid silhouettes and perfectly tuned lines have entered their legal rights. With its deliberately oversized and “a little bit of everything” color palette, street fashion began to slowly but surely lose its footing in 2017. And all these tectonic shifts will directly affect après-ski. Rather, they are inevitably teleported back to the original origins of culture.

Test passed

Can we say that the snowboarders lost this round? Not at all. Because the main characters of the material are absolutely universal things. Only quality, of course. For example, the author of the text and an avid snowboarder part-time tested the overalls of the Russian brand Ekaterina Konstantinova KAAMBEZ-ONE on the slopes of Rosa Khutor for three days. Report: the item coped with the driver’s task 11 out of 10, there were no obstacles in every second turn of the body and knees.

But the author was not alone in his endeavour. Indeed, the other day, as part of the biggest winter festival RosaFest x Gorilla Energy, the KAAMBEZ-ONE overalls were tested by bloggers, both skiers and snowboarders, from Tamara Rastegaeva to Elina Kamiren. And after mountain therapy sessions, among the obvious advantages in the comfort of the items, in the rave reviews of influencers, such a word as practicality stood out.

That’s right, because each jumpsuit (sorry, jumpsuit) is individually created for you using a special online designer. Elena Kuletskaya relied on ski zippers on her legs and an additional waist bag for the convenience of skiing in large boots, so that personal belongings do not fly directly into the snow-covered fir trees at the height of the sport. And Maxim Epifanov, like a real blogger, “provided” the overalls with a special pocket on the chest for the phone – after all, the main tool of the influencer should be near the hands.

After a personal meeting with the mountain peaks, the guests of the event went to a lecture by stylist Oksana On on the history of the creation of overalls and its development in the context of post-ski culture. And although it was a boring presentation for college students, according to Oksana, by the end of the event, every blogger was sure of two ways. First: sports chic is back in the trendy roles of Princess Diana and Grace Kelly. Second: The overalls of each are a definite homage to different historical periods. In the KAAMBEZ-ONE arsenal, everyone can find an option to their liking, whether it’s an 80s-style tricolor or a hot pink from scratch. And not only for themselves, but also for the child. The most helpful tip from Oksana is to choose black.

Finally, the event’s triumphant ending was a party in an atmospheric chalet surrounded by neon lights, where bloggers conquered the dance floor with Beyonce’s cult pieces. And no, the hot galleys did not interfere with the rhythmic movements at +20 in the room. Especially in such cases, they are combined with suspenders – it is enough to lower the item to the waist, and dancing with Crazy in Love will take place in complete comfort. Verified by a solid blog commission of eight distinguished representatives. And meanwhile, soon everyone will be able to inspect the overalls in action as the KAAMBEZ-ONE team plans to open its first offline retail outlet in Rosa Khutor. Just follow the updates on the brand’s website and social networks.

Well, at the end of a tense yet cool day, the bloggers headed straight to their cozy rooms at the Green Flow and Hotel 28 hotels at an altitude of 1100 meters, with the thought of another pleasant prospect. After all, the next morning they met an orange dawn with a view of the North Caucasus Mountains, swam strong and main in the outdoor infinity pool and warmed up in the hammam before returning to the capital. Of course, its rhythm cannot be compared with the descent even from the most extreme route of the waist.
