In less than a month, Avatar: The Way of the Water has blown away the competition, climbing to the seventh place among the greatest hits of all time. With $1.7 billion in admissions, the film is closing in on the three finalists (two of which are also directed by James Cameron!)

You have the impression that author of you, everyone went to see Avatars 2 ? It’s normal : that’s probably true. And it’s the same as United States, China and practically everywhere in the world.

$1.7 billion in revenue

James Cameron is a man of his word. Just before the release ofAvatar: The Water Way, the director had entrusted his financial worries for this new work of its franchise a HQ. He explained that to be profitable, the film had to become the third or fourth highest grossing film at the cinema, otherwise it would be a sad economic fiasco.

With $1.7 billion in revenue in total, the film left behind the box office giants, Top Gun: nonconformist, Fast and furious 7, avengers, The Lion King or Jurassic world.

It remains to be seen if he can do better than the leaders of this small classification. The stakes have remained high ever since titanic of James Cameron himself has amassed 2.2 billion dollars of revenue, slightly less than the 2.7 billion OfAvengers: Finale by the Russo brothers.
