A Russian frigate, armed with “unstoppable” hypersonic Zircon missiles, takes part in war games as it heads for Britain.
The footage shows the battleship Admiral Gorshkov, which carries one of the world’s deadliest weapons, “fending off airstrikes from a simulated enemy” in stormy conditions in the Norwegian Sea – six days into its mission to evade the west until dawn.
The ship is armed with new Zircon missiles with Mach 9 nuclear capability capable of speeds of nearly 7,000 miles per hour, as well as Kalibr missiles.
The warship is sailing to Britain and images released today show the ship taking part in a military exercise. The video on Zvezda TV did not include rocket launches during the exercises.

“The purpose of the exercise was to test the operation of the anti-aircraft circle, its systems, aerial and electronic lighting systems, anti-aircraft systems, tactical electronic warfare camouflage systems and air defense circle control systems,” reads the commentary.
According to the channel, the tasks are “done”. “The ship is ready to repel air attacks from different heights and directions.”
The Gorshkov, which was deployed for the first time, left Severomorsk last week and will pass Britain ahead of war games in the Mediterranean – but Moscow has not yet revealed the exact timing or route for the warship.
Putin has previously claimed the missiles have “no equivalent in the world” and their arrival comes at a much-needed time for Russia after several setbacks in Ukraine that have resulted in the loss of nearly 3,000 troops this year.
After first deploying last week, the ship immediately fired a test launch of advanced nuclear-capable Zircon missiles into the Barents Sea, hitting a target 1,000 kilometers away in the White Sea, the Kremlin claimed.

Putin could hardly contain his joy when he announced the news last week, saying: “I am sure that such powerful weapons will enable us to reliably protect Russia from possible external threats and help protect our country’s national interests protect.” ‘
The president proudly said it was an “important if not an important event” when the ship departed Severomorsk in a task force.
More than 10 months after the fighting, Russia has suffered a series of humiliating setbacks on the ground in Ukraine.
The Russian military’s high command has come under widespread criticism in recent days after an attack by Ukrainian forces over the New Year that Moscow says killed 89 of its soldiers.
Putin said last week: “The frigate Admiral Gorshkov is undertaking a long sea voyage. There is nothing unusual here: it is commonplace, but this time the ship is equipped with the latest Zircon hypersonic missile system, which is second to none.
“It’s a hypersonic system at sea – [and the vessel has other] Weapons of the latest generation…
“As I said, there is no equivalent in any country in the world.

Putin said the Zircon missiles could “overcome any modern or future air defense”.
“I am sure that with such a powerful weapon we will reliably protect Russia from possible external threats and help protect our country’s national interests.”
Putin emphasized: “I would like to emphasize that we continue to develop the combat capabilities of the armed forces and produce promising weapons. I wish the ship’s crew every success in their service for the benefit of the fatherland.”
He added: “I am very happy. My congratulations. It is a very big collaborative effort which, as expected, ended with a good result. Begin your task.’
Moscow has previously boasted that the Gorshkov is “the most dangerous enemy of surface ships on the world’s oceans” now armed with the new hypersonic missile.
It also has the latest Kalibr missiles – used against Ukraine – in its arsenal.
The frigate’s captain, Igor Krokhmal, previously said: “No one will see the missile launch or its flight.
“You don’t see until the missile hits the target.
“A surface target, a coastal target. I don’t think anything can be done about it in the coming years.’
