“It bothers me”: The logo for the movie “Avatar” was created in Word in two clicks? James Cameron’s response

Five years later, James Cameron commented on a sketch from the 2017 SNL show, in which Ryan Gosling portrays a man tormented by the thought that the Avatar movie logo is in the regular Word Papyrus font.

In a new interview with BBC Radio 1, director James Cameron was finally asked about the episode and quoted the sketch: “It bothers me” and he added, “Not really.”

The director continued, “I’m surprised they’ve spent so much money on a small cinematic short story based on such a sophisticated concept. “Okay guys, now we’re doubling up” I said. We use Papyrus for everything.” The funny thing about this whole story is that I didn’t even know it was Papyrus, no one asked me! I thought the art department had found this awesome font.”
