It is reported that a man identified as Lakshmireddy Srinu, he lost his life due to cardiac arrest while in a cinema in India during the screening of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, James Cameron’s new film that just premiered on December 16th and became a huge hit worldwide.
According to The Independent report, the event took place in Kakinada district in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, where Srinu he suffered a heart attack while in a movie theater along with his younger brother, when he unexpectedly collapsed from cardiac arrest and after being taken to Peddapuram Government Hospital, he was pronounced dead by doctors.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Dr. Pradeep Kumar D. of Fortis Hospital, specified that “it is unlikely that the film itself caused the deaths“However, he clarified that it could be due to a rupture of the plaque in the coronary arteries or the triggering of an arrhythmia due to excitement” and to make matters worse he adds that “these types of deaths occur during emotional encounters / emotional situations”.

To be more specific about this event which occurred during the screening of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, the director of Fortis Hospital, Noida, Dr. Sanjeev Gera explained that “Due to the stress, the increased pressure in this case, the arteries of the heart may have broken and this can cause sudden cardiac arrest,” although he also doesn’t blame the film as the cause of death.
It’s not the first time that a death has occurred during the screening of ‘Avatar’
Although the case recently registered in India with the death of a spectator in a cinema hall may surprise you, the truth is that it is not something unique and in 2010 the same thing had already happened during the screening of ‘Avatars’, the first film of this saga directed by the famous James Cameron.
According to information from Wion News, a 42-year-old man in Taiwan also had a heart attack while watching the movie ‘Avatar’ with the amazing world of Pandora on the big screen, and it was reported that the deceased had problems with high blood pressure, thus “the excitement of watching the movie” was what gave rise to her symptoms.
