Netflix revealed the first trailer for SteveA compelling drama with the Oscar winner Cillian Murphyand is based on Max Porter’s 2023 Bestsellers of Sunday Times Shy.
Steve Reinvents the story from the point of view of the principal of the reform school. Porter, who also wrote the script and acts as an executive producer, shifts attention to Murphy’s character, a passionate educator who tries to keep his school together against the growing pressures.
Tim Mielantswho recently directed Murphy in Little things like theseThis project returns to Helm.
The drama is set in the mid -90s and follows “a fundamental day in the life of the homonymous character of Murphy and his students in a last time reform school in a world that has abandoned them. While Steve fights to protect the integrity of the school as he also fights his imminent closure, he also prepares with his mental health.
“Parallel to Steve’s struggles, Teen Shy in difficulty (Jay Lycurg) is captured between his past and what awaits us while trying to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self -destruction and violence.”
Murphy defines Steve “one of the most types of exponents and terrifying characters I have ever played”, making fun of the emotional depth and vulnerability that the public can expect. The cast also presents Tracey Ullman, Ajikawo symbi (Aka Little Simz), e Emily Watson.
With its raw work, political currents and the stretched structure of one day, Steve It seems ready to offer a powerful mix of personal dramas and social comments.
The film was presented in World Preview at the Toronto International Film Festival next month on Platform Strand. The film will arrive in the cinemas selected on September 19 before streaming on Netflix on October 3.
