Greenland warns Texas oil firm over unauthorized drilling

Greenland has issued a serious warning to American oil firm Greenland Energy after the company delivered preparation materials to Jameson Land without local authorization. The Guardian reported that supplies reached the island's remote eastern coast, prompting a harsh reaction from the territorial government.

Greenland Energy, founded in Texas last year and linked to United States President Donald Trump, is preparing to drill two wells at a cost of 60 million dollars. The company estimates potential oil reserves in the region at one trillion dollars. However, territorial authorities stated that all logistical operations must be coordinated with and approved by the mineral resources authority.

Oil exploration rights

Greenland has not granted new oil extraction licenses since 2021 due to environmental concerns. British company 80 Mile currently holds exploration rights in Jameson Land. Greenland Energy plans to acquire a controlling stake in 80 Mile in exchange for funding, but needs official permission to continue work.

Donald Trump previously advised a host in an interview with Real America's Voice to bet that Greenland would become part of the United States before the end of his presidential term.
