Fly2Galicia launches flights from Santiago from 41 euros

Budget airline Fly2Galicia will launch direct flights connecting Santiago de Compostela with eight European cities starting on December 1, 2026.

According to Euronews, the initial flights are scheduled to coincide with an expected influx of pilgrims traveling along the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. Flights will operate from Santiago-Rosalia de Castro Airport, the main international gateway serving the region of Galicia in northwestern Spain.

Fly2Galicia will connect Santiago to three domestic destinations within Spain: Alicante, Granada, and Zaragoza. International routes will serve Brussels, Prague, Munich, Venice, and Milan. Ticket sales have already opened, with the lowest fares starting at 41 euros for flights from Milan. Tickets from Brussels, Prague, and Venice start at 51 euros, while the minimum fare from Munich is 71 euros.

Euronews noted that Fly2Galicia will not operate the initial flights independently, as another European airline whose name has not yet been announced is scheduled to carry out the services.

Destinations and local attractions

Santiago de Compostela offers visitors a historic Old Town that holds UNESCO World Heritage status due to its architectural mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles. Visitors are also advised to explore the Mercado de Abastos market to buy fresh seafood and local produce. Additional travel destinations nearby include the cities of A Coruna and Vigo, as well as the Rias Baixas coastal region, famous for its beaches and islands.

European autumn travel and coastal warnings

In broader European tourism news, Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported that traveler Vinicius Costa identified four European countries best suited for autumn holidays. Costa recommended Scotland for its mountain landscapes and historic castles, Italy for the Dolomites, Slovenia for the Julian Alps, and Spain for the Picos de Europa mountain range. Each destination offers colorful autumn nature, cool air, and picturesque towns.

UNIAN also reported that a massive arrival of Portuguese man o' war marine creatures appeared on beaches across southwestern France. The creatures caused more than 1,000 sting cases and led to the closure of dozens of beaches in the Basque Country. Their tentacles can reach up to 30 meters in length and release strong venom that causes severe pain, burning, and a potential risk of drowning.
