A new featurette has been shared for Steven Spielbergthe new movie The Fabelmans and is a must for any cinephile as it highlights the 50-year relationship between Spielberg and the film composer John Williams. They were friends this whole time and collaborated on several amazing movies together and it all started Jaws.
The Fabelmans came out on the 50th anniversary of their collaboration, which is what the featurette is all about, but it’s so cool to see them talk about their work together, and it also includes old behind-the-scenes footage of the two creating the soundtrack for ET The Extra-Terrestrial.
As a longtime Spielberg and Williams fan, I absolutely loved watching this wonderful featurette. I hope you all like it too!
The film is a semi-autobiographical project drawing from Spielberg’s life. The main character is a young man named Sam Fabelman, who is growing up in the post-World War II era with memories of his parents and sisters. As the story unfolds, Sam discovers a shocking family secret while also exploring the power of movies and how they help him see the truth.
The film is the protagonist Gabriel La Bella (The predator, American gigolo series) “as 16-year-old aspiring director Sammy Fabelman; Michael Williams (Manchester by the Sea, My Week with Marilyn) like her artistic mother, Mitzi; Paul Dano (Batman, there will be blood) as her successful science father, Burt; Seth Rogen (Steve Jobs, an American pickle) as Bennie Loewy, Burt’s best friend and honorary “uncle” to the Fabelman children, and Judd Hirsch (Uncut gems, ordinary people) as Mitzi’s Uncle Boris.
The ensemble cast also includes John Berlin (The Heartbreak Kid, inherent vice) as Sammy’s paternal grandmother, Hadassah Fabelman; Julia Butter (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, 13 hours) as Sammy’s sister, Reggie; Robin Barlett (Moonstruck, lean on me) as Sammy’s maternal grandmother Tina Schildkraut e Keley Karsten (Hunters, evil lives here) as Sammy’s sister Natalie.
Spielberg wrote the film with the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushnerwho also wrote Spielberg’s Lincoln and Monk. You can read all about it in my review.
