Director Zack Snyder has shared a new image from his upcoming sci-fi action thriller rebel moon, and offers a glimpse into the aesthetic tone in which Snyder is going for the film. The image was shared on social media and came with the note: “As promised, sorry about the unfinished nature of the shot, but it’s still early days.”
The film was inspired by a Star Wars idea that Snyder pitched to Lucasfilm, and the story is set in a “peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They send a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them make a stand against the Tyrant.
Snyder previously spoke about the project saying, “This is me growing up like Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this too becomes a huge IP and a universe that can be built.”
The film is the protagonist Sophia Botella, Charlie Hunnam, Doona Bae, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Friend Rupert, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huismann, Anthony Hopkins, and Alfonso Herrera.
The project is currently in post-production and I’m really curious to see how it turns out.
