There is a popular belief that the past times were always better which can be extended to the fact that all previous art is better than modern art. Which leads to a nostalgic value to the stuff, but if you believe it, here are some horror films for those who believed the genre was dead, with modern examples no further than 2015.

Without a doubt, one of the best samples of a horror movies for those who believe the genre is dead It’s “Midsommar” by Ari Aster. The story stars Florence Pugh and follows Dani and her friends as they decide to take a summer trip to an ancient community with strange traditions, which ends up being the scariest vacation of their entire lives. Mandy

Also one of the best horror and drama films is in ‘Raw’, by director Julia Ducornau. The story follows Justine, a vegetarian girl, born into a family of veterinarians. One day, arriving at veterinary school, she tastes meat for the first time, thus discovering one of her strangest and most dangerous flavors of her. Available on YouTube.

Saint Maud

Also from one of the genre’s foremost directors is ‘Saint Maud’, by Rose Glass starring Morfydd Clark. The story follows a nurse who, after a traumatic event, has found God in her life. Now she, obsessed with saving a patient, she starts engaging in questionable practices which leads her to a demonic conclusion.

The Witch

Without a doubt, one of the horror films that proved that the genre was far from dead is ‘The Witch’, by director Robert Eggers. The story is set in 1630s New England, where William and Katherine are the heads of a devoutly religious family, who are exiled to the woods when their father defies the local church. Now they must face a terrifying threat. Available on Amazon Prime Video and Lionsgate+.
