Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for the director Greta Gervig’S Barbie starring movie Margot Robbie like Barbie with Ryan Gosling like Ken. The trailer begins with the spoof Stanley Kubrickit’s the classic sci-fi movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, which is kind of funny because little girls everywhere will have no idea what the trailer is referencing. That’s okay, though, because parents do and it’s quite fun.

Elena Mirren narrates the opening scene by saying: “Since the beginning of time, since there was the first girl, there have been dolls. But the dolls were always and forever… dolls. Until….” and then there’s a shot of a giant Barbie.

The trailer also shows several clips from the film that offer a first look at the film’s main characters. The film is also the protagonist Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Kate McKinnon (Saturday night live), Ariana Greenblatt (Love and monsters), Alexandra Shipp (tick, tick… BOOM!), Emma Mackey (Sex education), Issa Rae (Insecure), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim versus the world), Hari Nef (Transparent), and Will Ferrell (Saturday night live).

Previously speaking about the film, Ryan Gosling said the script was one of the best he’s ever read and added, “This has been my whole life. I think a lot of Kens will feel seen when they see this. I have to be. for the Kens of the world. No one plays with Kens!”

Speaking about the film’s development, Gerwig said, “It was terrifying. I think there’s something about starting at that point where it’s like, ‘Well, anything is possible. I felt dizzy starting to write it. Like, where do you start? What would the story be?
