The DC movie mythos just got a lot more interesting, and DC Comics has confirmed it Richard DonnerThe 1978 movie Superman And Tim BurtonThe 1989 movie Batman they actually exist in the same universe.
Versions of these characters have returned to the world of DC Comics and in a recent one-shot comic titled Dark Crisis: Big Banghas officially canonized several DC-inspired movies, television shows, and even video games.
There’s a montage sequence in the story that sees The Flash traverse several universes, including one, which is called Earth-789. In this universe, it shows Michael Keaton’s Batman and Jack Nicholson’s Joker posed together.
This Earth-789 is also referenced in the multiverse map at the end of the issue, and that map lists it as a world where “Superman and Supergirl are Earth’s only augmented heroes [and] Batman’s parents [were] killed by the Joker”.
So, this means that the events of Donner’s Superman movie and Burton’s Batman movie, along with their sequels, spin-offs, and comic tie-ins, all exist in the same universe! I just thought it was awesome and wanted to share it with you! What do you think of this confirmation?
Dark Crisis: Big Bang #1 comes from Mark Waid, Dan Jurgens, Norm Rapmund, Federico BleeAnd Troy Peteri.
