There was a report floating around recently that it does James Gunn And Peter Safran they are “exploring the possibility of embedding Matt Reeves And Robert Pattinson’s Batman in their larger DC universe.
The news came from a source a Variety, so many sites were using it. I never shared this because another source told me this report was “bullshit” and now Gunn has confirmed that this report is, in fact, false.
Gunn shared in a tweet, “There are few reporters I love more than @adambvary — a really good guy — but in this case, he needs to get a new source because this is completely false.”
From what I understand, this was never in the plans, e.g Matt Reeves’ Batman the franchise will be a separate thing that won’t tie into what Gunn and Safran do with the DC Cinematic Universe they’re planning. A sequel and two spin-offs involving The Penguin and Arham Asylum are currently in the works.
I really hope Gunn ends up sharing their plans with fans at some point once they get the green light from Warner Bros. so that all the false reports and speculation stops! I’m really curious to see how they’ll handle the big reveal. How much of their plan will they reveal and how much will they withhold? Guess we’ll find out soon!
