Amazon Prime Video has officially ordered a series adaptation of God of Warwhich is based on the popular ancient mythology-based action video game from PlayStation.
The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios in association with PlayStation Productions. Marco Fergo And Ostby Falcon (Iron Man, children of men) are writing the series with Rafe Judkins (The wheel of time) as showrunner.
The series follows Kratos, the god of war, who, “after banishing himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, places his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets out on a perilous journey with his estranged son to scatter his ashes from the highest peak, his wife’s last wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one that will test the bonds between father and son and force Kratos to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.

We are honored to share the adventure of exploring the mythology of God of War in such an important way with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Santa Monica Studio.

Rafe, Mark and Hawk are creating an exciting series that charts a path through the ancient mythological journey of Kratos.

Judkins is an executive producer on the series with Oscar nominees Fergus and Ostby and the creative director of Santa Monica Studio, Cory Barlog. Additional executive producers include Playstation Productions Asad Qizilbash And Carter Swanof Santa Monica Studio Yumiyang as well as that of Vertigo Roy Lee. of Santa Monica Studio Jeff Ketcham will serve as co-executive producer.
As a huge fan of the God of War franchise, it’s great that we’re getting a series adaptation. I just hope it captures the epic beauty we all love about the game!
