The Rise of the Evil Dead is coming and it seems that many fans are excited about this new chapter of the Evil Dead franchise! This movie comes from the director Lee Cronin (The hole in the ground) and producers Sam Raimi And Bruce Campbell. We now have some new insights to share with you that I think you will like.
In the fifth evil Dead film, “a road-weary Beth pays a belated visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three children alone in a cramped Los Angeles apartment. The sisters’ reunion is interrupted by the discovery of a mysterious book deep within Ellie’s building, which gives rise to flesh-possessing demons and thrusts Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood. imaginable.”
During a recent interview with Total Film, Cronin talks about this next chapter in the franchise and what he was trying to accomplish with it, saying:
“It still had to keep some of the claustrophobia and that translated really well from the cabin to an urban setting. It’s about a family in a run-down building stuck in their flat, so it follows the same pace but puts it in a more contemporary context.” space.”
He went on to explain that this movie is set in the Evil Dead universe and he also says that there will be direct links to those past movies which is pretty cool! He says:
“It’s firmly in the universe. There are a lot of fun callbacks and there are direct lines to the past. But part of the goal of making this film was to create something that could further expand the Evil Dead universe.”
I like that they’re trying to expand the universe. I love this franchise and I’m a huge fan of Bruce Campbell’s Ash, but he retired from that role. It’s hard to imagine the Evil Dead franchise without Ash, but I really hope Cronin, Raimi and the rest of the creative team deliver a great horror movie that moves the franchise forward!
Producer Raimi previously teased that the film will be “terrifying” and “make people lose their minds.” Campbell said so too The Rise of the Evil Dead it will be a “much more harrowing” experience on an emotional level, saying:
“This is dark, this is pretty serious. Good, strong performances. She’s a single mom who now has to deal with this book. These days it’s more about the book. That book goes around, that book gets distributed, passed, le people try to get rid of it, they try to bury it or destroy it and they really can’t. So this book keeps popping up, so it’s really just another story of what happens if this book appears in this particular group of people alive and how they intersect.”
The film is the protagonist Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) And Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock), and are joined by Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davis (The end), And Nell Fisher (Splendid isolation).
The Rise of the Evil Dead is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023.
