Michael Jackson’s forgotten Sega game SCRAMBLE TRAINING rediscovered

Michael Jackson it appeared in an old 1993 Sega arcade game titled Scramble training. This was created for the Sega World theme parks, and it’s a game that’s basically been forgotten. Hell, there’s a chance some of you didn’t even know it existed! Well, it does, and the original footage master shot for the game was rediscovered at a flea market earlier this year and uploaded to YouTube for your viewing pleasure.

In the game, which was titled Michael Jackson in Scramble Training, players take on the role of new pilots on a training mission in their eight-man spaceship. Their flight trainer is Commander Jackson and he guides them through the mission. Using each seat’s joystick and dual buttons, players can shoot down incoming spacecraft and other obstacles.

The game play was similar to attractions like Star Tours at Disneyland, but the hydraulics were enhanced by actual technology-based shooting mechanics. Scramble Training is no more, and the only real record of Scramble Training’s existence came in the form of shaky camera footage.

Jackson had a strong relationship with Sega while working with them on games like Michael Jackson’s Moonwalkers and his involvement with the Sonic the hedgehog 3 soundtrack.

You can read a lot more about the history of Scramble Training thanks to the folks at Gaming Alexandria.

The original master of Scramble trainingwas discovered at a car market in the UK to be a relative of a former employee of Sega Amusements Europe. A D-2 digital tape labeled “Sega AS-1 (Michael Jackson Vers)” was for sale and he picked it up from a collector without even knowing what was on it.

Enjoy the video! Have any of you ever played this game?
