Golden Globes reaction: The silence is deafening

Typically, after the Golden Globes, Deadline and other media outlets are inundated with requests to speak with giddy actors and actresses who have just received their first (or repeat) nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. But not this year. Despite a new level of transparency from the HFPA and promises that house has been cleaned, everyone still remains in a true “wait and see” state when it comes to the new and “improved” Golden Globes.

There were a few actors who took the time to say thank you for the recognition after the nominations were announced on Monday. Kevin Costner released his own statement on social media, which read: “Working on yellowstone was a truly fulfilling project, and it was immensely satisfying and humbling that audiences embraced the show and its characters as they have over the past five years. To be recognized for this achievement is the icing on the cake and I share this nomination with everyone who has contributed to the show, especially my colleagues, the producers and crew.

The few other actors who wanted to pay tribute to the HFPA relied solely on social media. Niecy Nash – who will probably earn credit for her role as Glenda Cleveland on The Screen Actors Guild and TV Academy Dahmer – monstercalled herself a “Golden Girl”.

Hugh Jackman went a step further and made a thank you video.

And Henry Winkler, Hollywood’s most humane people, thanked the HFPA for “putting me in a great bunch of actors.”

Andor Star Diego Luna tweeted his gratitude in Spanish. Translated, his tweet read: “Thank you for such beautiful messages. How lucky to feel such love here.

Jerry Bruckheimer chose to go old-fashioned by simply restating a statement Top Gun: Maverick received a Best Picture nomination. “Thank you for this honor. Top Gun: Maverick brought audiences back to the cinema at a time when we needed entertainment the most. I am thrilled to share this nomination with Paramount, Tom and the entire cast and crew who made it possible.”

The stars of The Banshees by Inisherin Statements were also released. This from star Brendan Gleeson for the film, which received a nomination in the Best Picture – Musical or Comedy category: “It’s sensational! I’m happy and grateful, thank you Golden Globes. It’s nice to share the good news with Martin (x2), Colin, Kerry, Barry and Carter on behalf of everyone associated with The Banshees. Twice as with my sweet Domhnall. Happy days!”

And this from star Colin Farrell, who received an actor nomination for his lead role in the film: “What a team effort and joy it was to bring the Banshees to life… to celebrate at home with the whole gang and crew members make it all the sweeter.” ! As Brendan said, ‘Happy Days’ and thank you Golden Globes!
