I’m sure you’ve all noticed that the opening themes for Star Wars: Andor they are different for each episode. But what you may not know is that when you put all those openings Andor theme together in order, score great and cohesive!
This was discovered by YouTube user Jamie Kelly, who decided to mix all the themes together because he “wondered what would happen if he combined them all”. The result is a nice surprise!
The score for the series was created by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning composer Nicholas Britell, who also worked Succession, MoonlightAnd The big short. Britell spoke to the official Star Wars website about creating a “grittier, darker vibe” for the show and creating something other than something John Williams would have done. He talked about the evolution of music, saying:
“I think, in a way, there’s almost a metaphor [in the music] for the show. This idea that we’re learning, the characters are learning. It’s something a little different. It’s something new, and the music is hopefully providing a sense of learning and discovery as well.
As for the opening themes, he said:
“All main titles are different. The first main title sets the stage in some way, but each main title is a variation on that theme. what we are about to live.
One YouTube user commented, “It’s a wonderful metaphor for rebellion. Always starting with a voice or a catalyst, it grows in number and eventually turns into a symphony.”
Another said: “This was unexpectedly powerful. As if a few voices went from a murmur to a discordant roar and then into a unified rebellion; both full of rage but full of hope.”
