The restructuring of the DC Universe continues and the changes to the saga will be even more drastic than we thought. Under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, brought on by Warner Bros. to give it a makeover and unify its superhero properties, a completely new stage is planned for the studio, which involves several important sacrifices.

Gunn and Safran are already fully immersed in organizing their plan for the next 10 years of DC and will soon present their vision to David Zaslav, the new president of Warner Bros. Discovery, responsible for recent and media changes in the company that have shaken Hollywood (such as the cancellation of “Batgirl” to re-prioritize theaters at the expense of HBO Max). As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive report, One of the shocking decisions the duo allegedly made would be to cancel “Wonder Woman 3,” thus ending Wonder Woman’s current incarnation..

Apparently, Jenkins recently delivered her script treatment for the third installment in the saga about DC’s most iconic female superhero, but Gunn and Safran felt it didn’t fit their plan and would have already informed the director that this phase of Wonder Woman is over.. According to sources at THR, the studio would end up saving tens of millions of dollars by canceling “Wonder Woman 3,” for which Gadot reportedly earned an estimated $20 million and Jenkins $12. On Tuesday, Dec. 6, the Israeli actress posted a tweet in which he thanked the fans and promised a “next chapter” for Diana, but now it is interpreted as a possible farewell between the lines.

“A few years ago, it was announced that I would be playing Wonder Woman. I was so thankful for the opportunity to play such an incredible and iconic character, and more than anything, I am grateful for you. The fans. It’s time to share his next chapter with you”.

End of Snyder’s Justice League

Beyond the cancellation of ‘Wonder Woman 3’, other rumors are accumulating about the new DC Universe that would indicate a definitive closure of what Zack Snyder started. That is, a complete clean slate. So, the sequel to ‘Man of Steel’ with Henry Cavill is in danger, despite the fact that the British actor has announced his return as Superman in a big way after his celebrated cameo in ‘Black Adam’. And the second half of the latter wouldn’t go ahead either, especially after causing millions in losses for Warner. Likewise, there would be no more Aquaman with Jason Momoa after “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.” In other words, the definitive end of Snyder’s Justice League.

But first it’s a possibility (albeit a now more remote one) that we’ll see one of these actors play their characters one last time. And is that, despite the controversy surrounding Ezra Miller and production delays, theatrical release of ‘The Flash’ is guaranteed, and recently Cavill made a cameo for the Andy Muschietti film. However, given the changes implemented by Gunn and Safran, the studio would be considering cutting it, since it could be seen as a promise of something that won’t happen.

Jason Momoa

Perhaps most surprising is what the new DC bosses have planned for Momoa, who may become a key figure in the new phase of the saga, but not like Arthur Curry. According to THR, after the ‘Aquaman’ sequel, Momoa could play Lobo, a mercenary and interstellar bounty hunter, a role that fits him perfectly (and this has been said for him for a while). For now there is nothing official, but apparently Gunn and Safran would be determined to place Lobo in a prominent position in the DC Universe, with or without him Momoa.

Warner’s intention is to guide DC towards a more unified and coherent universe, like that of Marvel Studios.. However, it will not be an easy task taking into account the chaos that the previous phase has left and that there are still films belonging to the previous regime to be released, such as the aforementioned ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman 2’, ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ or ‘Blue Beetle’. What would initially remain outside Gunn and Safran’s jurisdiction is the Batman Universe, with Matt Reeves already working on ‘The Batman’ sequel and The Penguin and Arkham Asylum spin-offs in standard HBO form maximum; as does -presumably- ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, which goes completely to pieces and on its own.
