A new trailer and poster have been released for the upcoming dramatic thriller, Alice, darling. The film stars an Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick (Up in the air, Pitch perfect) as a young woman in an abusive and controlling relationship that her friends hope to encourage her out of. She is joined in the cast by Kaniehtiio Horn (Letterkenny), CharlieCarrick (Departure), And Wunmi Mosaku (Country of Lovecraft, Loki).
The film was directed by Mary Nightydaughter of actor Bill Nighy, in her directorial debut, from a screenplay by Alanna Francis (The rest of us).
Variety’s synopsis reads:
Kendrick stars in ‘Alice, Darling’ as a woman pushed to breaking point by her psychologically abusive boyfriend, Simon. While on vacation with two close friends, Alice rediscovers her essence and gains some much-needed perspective. Slowly, she begins to unravel the strings of codependency that bind her. But Simon’s revenge is as inevitable as it is shocking and, once unleashed, tests Alice’s strength, courage and the bonds of her deep friendships.
It feels like such an intense story with a career defining performance from Kendrick. I can’t wait to see it unfold. Check out the trailer below and see Alice, darling in theaters January 20.
