On threats, royal life and disappointments: Highlights from the documentary series about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

The documentary series about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry premiered today. We gathered the key points from the first part (thanks to our foreign colleagues). Recall that the series consists of two parts, each containing three episodes. The first three were released today, with the second part expected on December 15.

At the very beginning of the series, Prince Harry addresses audiences where he says he and Meghan Markle have completed their royal duties. “Now I look back and say, ‘What happened? How did we get here? says Harry. In parallel with Harry’s words, the couple’s photos and newspaper headlines are reflected on the screen.

Megan says, “In the last six years of my life, books about our history have been written by people I don’t know. Wouldn’t it make more sense if we heard our story from ourselves?”

Then Harry admitted that he was worried for the lives of his loved ones. “My job is to keep my family safe. Because of the fact that I was born in this position and all that it entails, and because of the level of hatred that has flared up especially against my wife and son over the past three years, I usually worry for the safety of my family,” the prince continued.

In the second episode, Prince Harry compared his wife’s life to Princess Diana’s. “In my mother’s time, there was physical abuse, cameras in front of you, people chasing you. The paparazzi still harass people, but now this harassment has become more common on the internet. As soon as the photos are published and then the posts appear, the social media harassment will begin. It’s hard to see another woman I love in my life go through this craziness. It’s actually a struggle between hunter and prey,” says Harry.

Also in one of the scenes, Meghan shared her feelings after the news of her dating Harry leaked to the media. “When the news came out, I think we both felt a huge relief. And people I didn’t say I was dating Harry wrote to me: ‘Oh my God, that’s true!’ Everyone was overjoyed,” Megan said.

Speaking to interviewers, Meghan admits that it was difficult for her to accept the day-to-day duties that members of the royal family fulfill. “I’ve never seen a photo or video of a walk, “What is a walk?” I thought.

“What I didn’t really know was style…what a woman should do, how she should dress and stuff like that,” Harry continued.

The Duke of Sussex admitted he was responsible for breaking off Meghan’s relationship with her father. “Of course it’s incredibly sad what happened. He had a father before that and now he doesn’t. That’s what I took for granted, because if Meg wasn’t by my side, her father would still be her father.”

Recall that in September 2020, Markle and Harry announced a multi-year deal with Netflix that includes the production of documentaries and feature films, TV series, scripted shows, and children’s shows.
