TimBlake Nelson (Old Henry, The Incredible Hulk) will star in a boxing drama titled bang bang, which recently concluded production in Kentucky. Let’s get a first look at Nelson in the film above.
The story follows Bernard “Bang Bang” Rozyski (Nelson), “a prickly retired boxer who is tasked with taking care of his nephew. He uses the opportunity to settle his oldest grudge by forcing his relatives to embrace the sweet science. This is definitely a different type of role for Nelson to play and he will be amazing in the role!
The film was written by The Sopranos actor Will Janowitz and is directed by Vincent Grashaw (What Josiah Saw). Nelson is joined by Glenn Plummer (Gifted), Andrea Liner (Vampire Academy), Erica Gimpel (Veronica Mars), Nina Arianda (Being the Ricardos), Daniella Pineta (Jurassic world franchise) and Kevin Corrigan (The departure).
The director said in a statement: “This project is for me the most personal. I grew up loving the sport of boxing, but the script tackled elements I’d never seen on film before; the consequences of a troubled fighter’s career. I found it an incredibly moving, tragic, but also extremely funny story. Tim Blake Nelson blew me away in the role and I can’t wait to share it with audiences.”
Nelson added, “This role presents challenges I haven’t had as an actor, but more importantly, it’s part of a bitingly intelligent and surprising script crafted by a superb storyteller in Vincent Grashaw.”
Producer Ran Namerode said: “Vince has unique abilities and around him we have assembled an outstanding team, from a great writer to a fantastic cast to a fantastic crew and production team, and we are all convinced that Bang Bang will touch really people hearts”.
