It’s been 13 years since the premiere of ‘Avatars’ one of the highest-grossing films in the history of cinema, where the director James Cameron transported the whole world to Pandora, the colorful planet that marked the seventh art industry forever and this 2022 will return with the sequel, but the famous director already imagines a great future for the franchise, with a story for the 6 and 7.
When it was revealed that James Cameron would be making his film ‘Avatar’. a saga set Pandora’s Worldnot only was it announced that there would be a sequel, but also a plan to bring 5 films of this fantasy and sci-fi franchise to the cinema, which also have a title and a release date already defined, but the director confessed that he wants more two.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, is the name of the sequel to the hit film that debuted on the big screen in 2009, and whose premiere is scheduled for December 16 worldwide, but the return of this story is only the beginning of a saga that has 3 more films in preparation for the next 6 years and in an interview for THR, James Cameron confessed that he wants two more.

THR assures that James Cameron “also has plans, in case the world requires them, for Avatar 6 and 7”, clarifying that the famous director has imagined more stories set in Pandora but confirms that the director would look for someone else to work on: “I should instruct someone how to do it because, I don’t care how smart you are as a director, you don’t know how to do it.”
As for the stories that James Cameron imagines for a possible film 6 and 7 of the “Avatar” franchise. No details have been revealed and the truth is that first we will have to wait to see the reception that the sequel will have at the cinema before the end of 2022 and then calculate if it will be possible to see the director’s dream come true, given that the future of life on Pandora will depend on it.
If “Avatar 2” fails, the release of films 4 and 5 could be cancelled
According to a report by BBC News, the premiere of ‘Avatar: The Tulkun Rider’ and ‘Avatar: The Quest for Eywa’, the fourth and fifth films in this franchise, are at risk of not being released if ‘Avatar: The Way of Water ‘ ends up being a box office flop, earning less than $2 billion.
On December 16, the first wait sequel to ‘Avatar’ which promises to begin a journey to Pandora that intends to end in December 2028 with the fifth film in the saga, but if these stories prove to be a huge success, there is a possibility that James Cameron will keep the Pandora legacy alive with a sixth and the seventh story, but for now we will have to continue to wait.
