James Gunn goes on to explain what the future of the DC Universe will look like following his and Peter Safran’s arrival as co-presidents and co-CEO of the franchise. On this occasion, it was through his Twitter account of him where the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy” he assured that all future DC projects will be connected.

A follower asked him: “Do you and Safran plan to produce more series with DC characters whose storylines contribute to the DC Universe?”. To which the director did not hesitate to reply: “Yes, the DC Universe will be connected through film and television (and animation)”. Additionally, Gunn answered a few more questions and assured him as well “even video games They will be connected to the DC Universe.”.

This change will continue with the renewal line established at DC Studios by the arrival of David Zaslav as CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery. Just a few weeks ago Gunn also confirmed that they will unify all franchises, so we will no longer be able to see different actors play the same character.. Situation that until now was quite common, given that for example, we have been able to see Robert Pattinson play Bruce Wayne in ‘The Batman’, while Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck have done the same in other titles of the production house.

His work for Marvel

As we already know, Gunn continues to work hand-in-hand with Marvel Studios. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays Special’ is available on Disney+ from November 26th. Additionally, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, also directed by Gunn, will be released in theaters worldwide on May 5, 2023.

The signing of the director as co-president of DC Studios implies an exclusive contract for the next 4 years. For this reason, it could be that the third installment of the Chris Pratt-starring saga marks Gunn’s final farewell to the House of Ideas. However, a few days ago he spoke about it himself and it has not closed the door to a possible return, though by no means in the short or medium term.
