Kevin Bacon is making his MCU debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special this week, but it’s actually been part of Marvel lore for many years. Back when the first Guardians of the Galaxy came out in 2014, Kevin Bacon was mentioned as part of the pop culture memories Peter Quill had from when he was a child on earth.
Bacon sat down with Yahoo’s Kevin Polowy, to talk about his big-screen technical debut ahead of his in-person one, and described what a joy and strange experience it was, saying:
“I went to the first Guardians movie opening weekend. For one thing, it looked great. I had worked with James Gunn, so I wanted to see what he could do with this crazy comic book franchise. “Suddenly they’re talking about me. It’s quite an out-of-body experience. Especially when it’s like this… It’s one thing if a drama or a regular comedy does it. But I’m in a whole other universe. A whole other world .”
I love that Kevin Bacon will actually be in the holiday special. The story is so funny and I love that Bacon has such a great sense of humor about himself. You can check out the full interview below and watch Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+ today.
Kevin Bacon gleefully recalls how he went to see Guardians of the Galaxy and had an “out of body” experience when they started talking about him. He called his wife and had her come see him too.
