‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ continues to lead the Spanish box office and Sabina gets the best opening of the week

After the Marvel effect, the Spanish box office drops again to 4 million euros for the weekend’s total, according to Comscore data. It is one and a half million euros less than the previous weekend, in which ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ hit theaters. From almost 800,000 spectators we have gone to just under 600,000. No premiere has reached large numbers, even if we have a pleasant surprise among the novelties.

The top spot is still held by the ‘Black Panther’ sequel, which drops a steep 54% from its debut weekend. Add €1.31 million to a total that is close to €5 million. Their average per theater is still strong (€3,642), but they still dominate the territory with 1,018 screens, so that was to be expected. In a matter of average per screen they have a more normal 1,291 euros. It is close to ‘The Crooked Lines of God’ in the year’s highest-grossing films in our country, but still far from the top 10. Focusing on the MCU, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ had a bigger drop in its second week, but its total was already almost 9 million euros. “Wakanda Forever” remains in a similar result to the second week of “Thor: Love and Thunder”, although it was already close to 7 million.

‘As bestas’ increases the number of theaters after the good reception on the weekend of its premiere and manages to increase the collection by 3%. Add 469,046 euros to a total of 1.18 million euros, exceeding the collection of, for example, ‘Malnazidos’. As she begins deciphering the nomination lists for awards season, there’s a good chance she has a long way ahead of her.

‘The fourth passenger’ loses a position, but it is holding up great in its fourth week. It adds 426,000 euros to a total of 3.17 million euros and continues with an average of over one thousand euros per cinema and screen.

The surprise we were talking about is the documentary by Fernando León de Aranoa on Joaquín Sabina, ‘Sentiendo lo mucho’, which debuts in fourth position as the best premiere of the week. Despite taking only €224,275 (which rises to €326,350 if we count Thursday, its first day in theatres), the fact that a documentary has prevailed over all other releases is something truly remarkable. It numbered close to 50,000 “Sabinists” in its early days.

In fifth position, one less than the previous week, we find ‘Black Adam’. Add 233,060 euros in its fifth week, again in more than 300 rooms. Its total is 6.5 million euros, gradually approaching ‘The bad guys’. But his entry into the top 10 of the year is still a long way off.

We have to go down to eighth position to find another novelty in the standings. ‘Kings against Santa’ does not receive an advance gift and only reaches 154,011 euros. Nor does James Gray dazzle, who occupies the 11th position with ‘Armageddon Time’, which collects 104,886 euros. ‘The perfect thief’ is one position below at €100,165. And one would have to go to fifteenth position to find another debut, ‘La maternal’, which grossed €55,582 in 83 cinemas.

More than 20 new products on the bill

This week they arrive in theaters, watch out, more than 20 previews, a real madness. Among the main ones we find ‘Hasta los huesos: Bones and All’, the cannibal romance of Timothée Chalamet, ‘Strange World’, the new Disney animated film, the powerful ‘The King Woman’ with Viola Davis and the Spanish comedy full of well-known actors and actresses ‘Stories Not to Tell’. Netflix debuts twice, bringing to the big screen ‘ Punches in the Back: Mystery of the Glass Onion ‘ (which will be in theaters for one week only) and ‘ Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio ‘.
