No one can deny the importance of ‘The Wire’ or ‘The Sopranos’, television series which defined a before and after in cable programming. Now that the HBO company has made the leap to streaming platforms, there are some essential crime miniseries and thrillers to celebrate its 50 years of existence.
2021 had just begun and HBO has premiered one of its best miniseries’Easttown mare’, a story created by Brad Ingelsby and starring Kate Winslet and Evan Peters, which is among the best on the platform. It’s about a life-weary small-town detective who now has to investigate the murder and disappearance of several young girls.
Sharp objects
Sadly, the death of Jean-Marc Vallé this year has made many remember one of the best hbo drama series, “Sharp Objects”, created by Martin Noxon, with Patricia Clarkson and Amy Adams, and which is the adaptation of the novel by Gillian Flynn. She is a journalist forced to return to her city to investigate the murder of two girls.
Band of Brothers
As if it were a spiritual sequel to ‘Saving Private Ryan’, ‘Band of Brothers’, a war series created by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, and one of the most gritty and remembered portrayals of war to be seen in history on television . This is the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of Easy Company, during the Second World War.

Chernobyl
In 2019, one of The best political thrillers that HBO has on its streaming platform “Chernobyl”, created by Craig Mazin, and starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, Emily Watson, among others. It is about the 1986 nuclear power plant accident that occurred at the nuclear power plant located in Ukraine, and the negligence that led to such an unfortunate event being covered up. Guardian
Although Alan Moore, the author of the original novel, and who is still one of the best comics in history, decided to remove his name from the adaptation, 2019’s ‘Watchmen’ is a worthy succession of the events that happened in the cartoons.
