Disney has released the first teaser trailer for Pixar’s upcoming animated film Elementary. This film follows the journey of unlikely couple Ember and Wade, “to a city where residents of fire, water, earth and air coexist. The fiery young woman and the guy who goes with the flow are about to discover something elementary: how much they actually have in common.
The teaser focuses on Ember as it leads to her meeting with Wade. I’m pretty sure we’ll have a second teaser soon that puts the emphasis on Wade. This story centers around two elements who find a friendship despite their differences. Ember is a tough, fiery young woman, and Wade is a fun, happy, go-with-the-flow guy.
Actors Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World: Domination) And Leah Lewis (Half of it) are voicing the character Wade (water) and Ember (fire), respectively. They previously explained that the film dives into how two people who are as different as possible can be friends.
The film is directed by Peter Sohn (The good dinosaur), and offered some insight into where this idea came from:
“The idea [for Elemental] started with my parents. As immigrants to the United States from Korea in the 1970s, they had no family, nothing. But they managed to make a living here in New York and, just like them, many people left their people and families in a new land, with hopes and dreams, mixing cultures, languages and neighborhoods.
“We were among many families who ventured to a new land with hopes and dreams – all of us blended into a big salad bowl of cultures, languages and beautiful little neighborhoods. That’s what brought me to Elemental.”
Elementary looks like a wonderful new Pixar film, and it will open on June 16, 2023.
