Welcome to Element City! The new Pixar film is called ‘Elemental’ and takes us to a city with a very New York air where the four elements of nature coexist: water, fire, earth and wind. Get ready for a love story that has everything against it. She is Ember, and she is made of fire. This is Wade, and it flows like water. Here is the first trailer:
Behind this idea is Peter Sohn, director of ‘Arlo’s Journey’, who stated at this year’s D23 Expo that is inspired by his parents, who immigrated to the United States from Korea in the 1970s: “They had no family, nothing. But they managed to make a life for themselves in New York. And like them, many people have left their people and their families for a new place, with hopes and dreams, all mixed together in a big bowl of cultures, languages and neighborhoods”.

In Element City these four types of characters coexist and can’t be more different from the first ones. And they tend to mix rather little. That’s why neither Ember nor Wade would expect to connect with someone so different from them. Mamoudou Athie, who we saw in “Jurassic World: Dominion”, voices Wade in the original version, while Ember is voiced by Leah Lewis (“Nancy Drew”).
‘Elemental’ has a very Pixar concept and setting full of potential. The film, described as “a story about someone who made a sacrifice or took a risk”, will be released in theaters on June 16, 2023.
