A few months ago, actor and comedian Patton Osvalt made its appearance on Today show, and confirmed that an Eternals the sequel was in the works, even going so far as to say that director Chloe Zhao would return to direct, and that he and Harry Styles will return as characters from the post-credits scene, Pip and Starfox.
The news has since ceased from any other source and Eternals 2 doesn’t appear to be in any Marvel news, so fans have been wondering what’s up. But recently, another movie star, Kumail Nanjiani, sat down with the Bingeworthy podcast (via The Playlist), and confirmed he hasn’t heard anything about a second film. But he said he’s absolutely open to one if he comes along. He really enjoyed playing Kingo and when asked about his voice, he explained:
“I have no idea. I don’t think Patton was right. I think there was a deceptive website, one where it’s like a detached letter from the real one. They tweeted about it and it spread and I think that’s what he saw Patton. I honestly don’t know anything. I wish Kingo would come back. I love playing that character… he’s so much fun to play, you’re just in a good mood. You make finger guns, you’re like a movie star – what the c “Is that not to love? You’re just in a good mood all the time.”
He went on to add:
“I’ve been doing that movie for five months and I think I’ve been grinning straight for five months, so I’d love to come back and I love what the MCU is doing now. I just saw ‘Black Panther 2’ and I was really, really blown away. So, I’d love to go back, but I honestly have no idea if or when.
When asked who he would like to see Kingo paired with in the MCU, Nanjiani said:
“I’d love to team up with Ms. Marvel! I love that show and thought Imman [Vellani] it was so good and i just got to meet and date her for the first time and she is such a talented actress and such a wonderful human being and i think we would be amazing together on screen. I would love to team up with Ms. Marvel.”
After the less than stellar reception from fans, perhaps Eternals 2 it’s on the proverbial backburner. It would be a shame to waste a cast that includes Nanjiani, Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, Gem Chan, Harry StylesOswalt, E Barry Keoghanbut we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
