EXCLUSIVE: The Ensemble for Greg Berlanti. ‘s Mysterious Apple Original Project Artemis continued to expand, with the addition of Donald Elise Watkins (Emergency). Written by Rose Gilroy, the upcoming film will star Watkins alongside the previously announced quintet of Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Jim Rash, Ray Romano and Anna Garcia.
Although not much is known about it Project ArtemisPlot, we understand that the film is set against the 1960s space race. Details about Watkins’ role have not been released.
But Apple snapped up the Hot Pack for more than $100 million when it launched last spring, we were the first to tell you. Johansson is producing with Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn through her company These Pictures, and with Sarah Schechter and Berlanti for Berlanti Productions.
Watkins is perhaps best known for starring in Prime Video’s college thriller comedy alongside RJ Cyler Emergency, which had its world premiere and critical acclaim as the opening film for Sundance 2022 before being released in limited theaters and on Amazon Studios’ Prime Video. The actor has also appeared in films, including Prime Video’s sci-fi horror black boxDamien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning drama directed by Neil Armstrong first manthe war photo Free State of Jones led by Matthew McConaughey and Tate Taylor’s come on with the late Chadwick Boseman as James Brown.
Watkins returned in Barry Jenkins’ Emmy-nominated miniseries The metro for Prime Video and has also appeared in series such as high Court, MacGyver, preacher and root. The psychological thriller by Susanna Fogel is also coming for the actor cat lover for Studiocanal, in which he appears alongside Isaac Powell, Emilia Jones, Nicholas Braun and others.
