Set in the last days of the High Republic, ‘The Acolyte’, the new series of the ‘Star Wars’ universe for Disney +, Production has just started and the streaming platform has celebrated it, also announcing its full cast. So, we just found out that Lee Jung-jae (“The Squid Game”), Amandla Stenberg (“The Hunger Games”) and Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”), who had already been confirmed, will join Dafne Keen. , Laura in ‘Logan’ and star of ‘Dark Materials’; and Carrie-Anne Moss, the mythical Trinity from “The Matrix”.

As seen in the tweet, the cast will also include Manny Jacinto (“Nine Perfect Strangers”), Dean-Charles Chapman (“1917”), Charlie Barnett and Rebecca Henderson (both of “Russian Doll”), all in still unknown roles.

According to the synopsis, “The Acolyte” is a mystery thriller that will take audiences to a galaxy of dark secrets with the dark side powers emerging in the last days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with his Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they could have anticipated. The story takes place about 100 years before Episode I, “The Phantom Menace” and we will thus see the end of the heyday of the Jedi Order.

Behind the cameras is Leslye Headland, co-creator of “Russian Doll”, and the series is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, Jason Micallef, Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson. Headland will also direct the pilot episode of “The Acolyte”, the production of the entire franchise that will travel further back in time in galactic history: “We will take a look at the political, personal and spiritual issues that emerged at a time we don’t know much about. […] How did things get to this point? How did we get to the point where a Sith can infiltrate the Senate without any of the Jedi noticing? What went wrong? What are the scenarios that have led us to this moment? Headland asked himself in an interview with Vanity Fair. For now, no release date has been announced, although it should land on Disney + probably in the last quarter of 2023.
