Marketing was all about mystery and audiences really had no idea what was going to happen until it came out and saw the movie, which is so rare these days! Many of the trailers we see today take you through the entire movie and leave nothing for a surprise when you actually see it.
Speaking of that trailer, the director said: “The film advertised in the trailer is not the film you will experience in the cinema. This is not to say that it is a decoy and a change or a deceptive advertisement, but there is no way you will know what is going on.
Barbarian it was Cregger’s first feature film and he went looking for help and advice from people in the industry to guide him on his journey. The director revealed he went to Jordan Peel (Go out, We, No) for help.
Cregger told Variety: “He spent a lot of time with me before I went to Bulgaria to shoot the film. He gave me a crash course on how to handle inevitable challenges, and he was so valuable. ”
Peele also watched a first cut and provided feedback on the film. In this regard, Cregger told Empire: “I went to his house and he gave me a lot of advice on the inevitable problems I could expect to encounter in my first feature film. Then I showed him a cut and he gave me some notes. . was very useful. “
I think it’s nice to hear of experienced directors helping new filmmakers and guiding them in the right direction.
Barbarian star Giorgina Campbell also discussed Peele’s influence on the film with IndieWire saying, “Zach is a good friend of Jordan Peele, and I think he talked to [him] a lot while writing the film, and [he] I also saw a first cut. So it was definitely part of the essence of the film. “
