‘Blade’: Marvel confirms new director for Vampire Slayer movie – Diffusion (Marvel Studios)
A few weeks ago the production of ‘Lama’, the Marvel vampire slayer, now owned by the Walt Disney Company, had lost director Bassam Tariq as director, who left the film due to multiple changes in the production schedule. These, added to a rewrite of the script, which meant that production did not go as planned.
Now, the replacement of this director could have been confirmedby the director Bratton elegance, known for his short films “Walk for Me” and “Buck”, whose first feature film “The Inspection” will be distributed by A24. According to the report, Bratton was initially part of a list compiled by Marvel. However, it appears the studio has already made a decision.
That said, it should be noted that neither Marvel nor the creative team behind “Blade” have made any statements on this news. The source comes from the center Cosmic circus, which provided the report through its portal. Even so, this type of rumor has already become common within the House of Ideas movies and series.
It is not the first time that a rumor has flowed through Marvel productions
It should be remembered that in 2019, during the San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Scott Derrickson would return as the director of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, but would end up retiring from the post. A few months later, a rumor spread that Sam Raimi would take over, which ended up being official.
This is not the only case, something similar happened when rumors and leaks about the appearance of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in “Spider-Man: No Place Home”, returning to play the arachnid superhero, which ended up being true. So this news, albeit unofficial, could be the preamble to Marvel Studios to confirm it.
On the other hand, what reported by Cosmic circus has one point, and that is the hiring of Elegance Bratton as Blade’s new director for the MCU, aligns with the practice the superhero company has been doing in recent years. This consisted of hire more independent directorsaway from the mainstream.
Examples of this would be Chloe Zhao with “Eternals”, Cate Shortland with “Black Widow”, Destin Daniel Cretton who was responsible for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” or Ryan Coogler director of “Black Panther”. Even so, confirmation of the news from Marvel remains to be seen. “Blade” was supposed to be released in 2023, but due to changes it was postponed to September 6, 2024.
