Mexico.- Cinema has become the perfect ally to tell stories that are sometimes silenced in society and do not reach everyone’s eyes and ears, ‘Noise’ by director Natalia Beristáin, he is the next to raise his voice against causes and social struggles that seek to be made visible and to obtain justice. This is exactly what the film is about him, the noise of what is not talked about in the country as it should be.

During its presentation at FICM 2022, in addition to director Natalia Beristáin, Julieta Egurrola, Teresa Ruiz, Arturo Beristáin and the mothers of the disappeared, Edith Y Lupitato witness the harrowing stories that are the background but reality to a film that goes beyond the simple film.

The film tries to generate noise and awareness by raising its voice for cases that over the years have been silenced in the country, just as it happens in other parts of the world. On this occasion we talk about what is happening in Mexico to capture it on the big screen, to show how these types of situations of disappearance of women are lived, which are not only this, but completely damage the reality of those who remain.
Natalia Beristáin’s film wants to expand the noise of justice and social struggle
We are not facing a fiction, violence against women is real and represents a topic of greater importance. ‘Ruido’ aims to raise the voice for the victimsbut also because of the inequalities and injustices we face, an issue that must be seen not only from the point of view of justice and legality, but also from the side of the pain and support that collateral victims experience with regard to the circumstances.
‘Ruido’ is the story of Julia, a woman who, like so many other mothers, sisters, cousins, daughters, grandmothers in Mexico, looks for her women, in a place, in a country where women disappear every day and remain alone as a single increasing statistic. She is looking for her daughter Ger of her, along the way she meets other women who are in the same situation, struggling and looking.
Through her case, she weaves a vast network of women fighting for various social causes in the same country, forging ties with those who experience the same pain and are looking for the same goal: their women and justice.
Natalia Beristáin describes her film as a story that we must understand outside of the missing figures and disappeared, understand from the stories of life, pain and broken families after living a case like this. For her, talking about this important issue through cinema is the only way she has to raise her voice for them, as she confessed to Vogue.
We ask to expand a noise that is so attractive and stimulating, as well as annoying and uncomfortable, that it leaves the ties within society to change a national reality that aggravates us. It’s about keeping in mind the power of the collective in search of truth, justice and memory, “says Beristáin, according to Informador.
‘Ruido’ will be released to the public as part of an exclusive selection in theaters in Mexico on January 5, 2023, for those who cannot see it on the big screen, the film will also be part of the streaming house Netflix, in which it will have its premiere the January 11, 2023, so that together we can make noise for those causes that we cannot silence.
